Traders in the razed Gamboru and Monday Markets in Maiduguri, Borno State, have been urged to provide themselves with fire extinguishers, to safeguard against fire incidents.
The Controller General, of Federal Fire Service, Engineer Olola Jaji, said this in Maiduguri, where he was visiting to commiserate with the government and victims.

He asked the traders to form themselves into groups, to access basic training, on how to contain fire outbreaks.
Jaji also asked the people to always cooperate with firefighters, in the event of a fire outbreak. He says he has directed his men to embark on fire prevention campaigns across the state, using local languages, to enlighten traders and shop owners.
He said his men are facilitating collaborations between the Service and the Market Associations, in providing a functional fire station, domiciled in the market premises, with a Firefighting truck.
Recall that the popular Maiduguri Monday Market, as well as that of Gamboru, both in Maiduguri, were razed by fire, which destroyed goods, worth billions of Naira, about a month ago.
