The National Boundary Commission has begun series of interactive sessions with state governments of the North East to fast track the issues of boundary demarcation between states in the region in the light of huge mineral deposits recently discovered in the area.
Part of the resolutions is to ensure that State Boundary Commissions complement the role of the National Boundary Commission in sensitizing the people in the rural areas about their boundary limits.

The discovery of crude oil in the Gongola Basin Area has created rift between Bauchi and Gombe States; setting up discussions on the definition of a boundary and the roles of the state boundary commission.
