Four months ago, 14-year-old Daniel was an active and energetic young boy. But now, he is without his limbs, after an electric accident burnt off his arms. He has spent months, following the accident in the hospital where his two arms got amputated.
It has been a tortuous journey for him and his family, having to solicit public support for treatment. After undergoing surgeries, Daniel was held up for weeks, until a good samaritan stepped in to pay his medical liabilities.
With the good news, Daniel is free to go home but the journey home is bumpy and uncomfortable. It is a fresh start to life as an amputee, still recovering from the pains and sores.

On returning home, the living condition has been a challenge. But Daniel’s parents were able to secure another accommodation, where he has been sharing a room and bed with his mother and siblings.
He however he is grateful to be home. His mother, who used to make beans cake, also known as Akara, to support the family, now devotes her time to nursing Daniel.
As an outpatient at the National Hospital Abuja, Daniel will have to ply the road every three days to see his doctor.
His siblings and friends have all resumed school, but Daniel, for now, will have to contend with the fact that he may not be joining them anytime soon and maybe never, except if help arrives in the form of a new set of arms.
