The Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Adedokun Adebowale says efforts are ongoing to ensure quality procurement officers are produced to help reduce waste of resources and duplication of projects.

The Director-General who stated this during the 2025/ 2026 Batch B Mandatory Continuous Public Procurement Capacity Development Training in Port Harcourt said those who failed to impress at the training will repeat the exercise.
The three-week batch B BPP 2025/2026 mandatory continuous public procurement capacity development training programme is for over 800 procurement officers drawn from various federal and state governments’ MDAs, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Adedokun said the training is aimed at improving the skills and knowledge of officers in handling of procurement activities, ensuring transparency, efficiency and value for money in govt procurement of goods and services and award of contracts.
He said the training is not intended to fight corruption, but to help prevent corruption during the procurement processes.
He said the BPP is already in partnership with six universities to produce qualified procurement officers.
The newly employed procurement officers across various MDA’s were also inducted.
