The Ministry of Petroleum Resources has said the Federal Government is working on increasing security around oil and gas assets in the country.
Senior Adviser to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Horatious Egua disclosed this in an interview with AIT on the explosion of pipeline feeding the Brass export terminal.

Although Horatious said it was “a private business and Ministry has nothing to do with it” He added that there was however an interface between agents of the government and hosts communities in mitigating the incidents of pipeline vandalism and thefts of crude oil in the region.
Brass is one of the major onshore crude grades and the terminal has a capacity to export about 200,000 barrels per day.
Two oil pipelines affected, one of Nigeria’s export streams is operated by Italian group Eni.
