Just when pupils and students are getting excited to resume after the Covid-19 lockdown, some schools in the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday turned them back to return home
The schools say the decision is as a result of fear of possible spillover of the violence in ongoing #EndSARS protests.
One of such schools is the Destiny Christian Academy, owned by Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja.
A message to parents reads in part”notice of urgent school closure…, dear esteemed parents, Calvary greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. In view of the recent unrest and the resultant massive protests within the FCT leading to blockade of major routes, security information reaching us calls for close monitoring of the situation starting from tomorrow Thursday and Friday subsequently…”
The message reads further that “… following a management meeting, we wish to notify you of the immediate closure of the day schools (primary and secondary). As we monitor over the weekend, we will notify you on the possible reopening of schools on Monday 19th October 2020…”

Traffic inward and outward airport road is expected to be impacted, Alternative route is advised. Maintain vigilance and continue to avoid large gatherings…”
