Breaking: APC Candidate Abiodun Oyebanji wins Ekiti Governorship Election

Candidate of the All Progressives Congress Abiodun OYEBANJI has been declared winner of the 2022 Ekiti State Governorship Election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The Returning Officer of the Ekiti State Governorship Election, Prof. Kayode Oyebode announced the result on Sunday morning at the INEC office in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital.

Fifty four year old OYEBANJI polled 187,057 votes to defeat Former Governor Olusegun Oni of the Social Democratic Party, who polled 82,211 votes, and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic party who scored 67,457 votes.

Abiodun who served as the secretary to the government under the administration of the incumbent governor Kayode Fayemi won 15 out of the 16 local governments areas including Ado Ekiti which has the larger number of voters.

The Returning Officer declared “That Abiodun Abayomi OYEBANJI of the APC , having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,”

The APC Candidate Oyebanji won in Ikere, Emure, Ekiti South West, Ekiti West, Oye, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ikole, Ido-Osi, Ado, Gbonyin, Ekiti East, Moba, Ilejemeje , Ise/Orun and IJERO LGAs.

PDP Candidate Bisi Kolawole won in Efon LGA.

Oyebanji is expected to be issued certificate of return on Monday July 21 2022
