Fourteen persons were in the early hours of wednesday killed by bandits at Agudu community in Kogi Koton Karfe Iga of Kogi State, North-Central Nigeria.

Kogi State commissioner of police, Ede Aayuba while briefing journalists on the activities of the command said a family of 13 members was wiped out by the attackers. He added that another person was also killed while 6 others who sustained different degrees of injuries have been moved to medical facilities for treatment.

Ayuba added that on receipt of the distress call he immediately moved to the scene but the bandits had left before their arrival. He says normalcy has however been restored to the area.

The commissioner who noted that the attack could have been triggered by an alleged long time communal dispute in the community described it as unfortunate for a man to lose his life and 12 other members of his immediate family leaving only a son who survived the attack. He promised to intensify effort to get the perpetrators.
