The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal filed by Chris Uba and Obinna Uzor challenging the election of Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, as the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
The court held that the lower court was right on his decision.
Ifeanyi Ubah of the YPP filed an appeal against the judgment of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Bwari which sacked him as a lawmaker.
Justice Bello Rawu of the FCT High Court had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued to Ubah and to issue a fresh certificate to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obinna Uzoh, as the Senator-elect of the district.
On appeal, Ubah’s election was affirmed as authentic candidate representing the Anambra South district in the National Assembly.
Following the Court of Appeal’s affirmation of Ubah’s election, Obinna Uzoh of the PDP headed to the Supreme Court to challenge the decision of the lower court.

The tussle was laid to rest as on Tuesday as the Supreme Court upheld the decision of the lower court and dismissed the appeal for lack of territorial jurisdiction.
Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, who delivered the judgement, held that the cause of action ought to have risen from Anambra State and not the FCT.
Counsel for the respondent, Onyechi Ikpeazu, reacted to the judgement while Ubah dedicated victory to people of Anambra State.\
The appellant was not in sight to grant any interview.
