INEC declares bye-election in Zamfara State inconclusive

Bakura State Constituency Bye-election has been declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. This follows the cancellation of results in 14 polling units in Bakura Ward.

The returning officer, Professor Ibrahim Magawata, announced the cancellation Sunday morning. The affected units according to Professor Magawata have a total number of 11,429 registered voters.

The returning officer said, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ibrahim Tudu has scored the total number of 18,645 votes, while the APC candidate, Bello Dankande scored 16, 464 votes. This is a difference of 2,181 votes which is less than the affected 11,429 registered voters.

He says, a new date for the conclusion of the election in the affected polling units would be announced later by the Commission.
