The Supreme Court Tuesday reserved judgement in the Kano Governorship Election appeal for January 20, 2020.
The apex court presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN Justice Tanko Mohammad fixed the date to deliver the verdict after arguments have been taken from lawyers to parties involved in the legal battle.
The appellant, Abbah Yusuf of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP had through his counsel, Adwgboyega Awomolo asked the Supreme Court to nullify the election that brought Abdullahi Ganduje to office on the ground of illegality in the election.

Awomolo in his argument informed the court that the returning officer with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had cancelled the election in 207 units across the 44 local government areas of the state.
And that the returning officer had no power under any law to cancel any election after collation and declaration of election have been made. He therefore urged the court to nullify the result of the March 23, 2019 supplementary election.
However, counsels for Governor Ganduje, the All Progressives Congress, APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in their own submissions prayed the court to uphold the victory of the first respondent who was declared winner of the election.
Meanwhile, after a short recess, the CJN reminded the lawyers upon calling the next case which is the Plateau Governorship Election that most of the appeals will be expiring by 20th of January and judgement must be deliver on or before the date.
Therefore only appeals that will expire by 17th of January will first be taken so that the court can meet up with the prescribed date in the electoral law.
