The Recording Academy presents posthumous Lifetime Achievement award to the late Afrobeat Musician Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
This is coming ahead of Sunday night’s 68th edition of the annual Grammy awards.
The late king of Afrobeat music, saxophonist multi-instrumentalist social crusader Olufela Anikulapo-Kuti; is regarded as the originator of Afrobeat music.
Fela’s award Plaque was received by his children Yeni, Femi, Kunle and Shalewa Kuti at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles California United States.
Though it’s about 30 years since his death on August 2nd 1997, Fela Kuti has become the first African to receive the Grammys Lifetime Achievement Award.
