President Bola Tinubu has approved the postings of 65 ambassadors-designate to various countries and international missions, marking a major step in Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement abroad.
According to a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday, the list comprises 31 non-career ambassadors and 34 career diplomats whose nominations were confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
Onanuga said the postings include several high-profile appointments such as former Akwa Ibom senator Grace Bent to Togo, former presidential aide Ita Enang to South Africa, and former presidential spokesman Reno Omokri to Mexico.
Former Minister of Health Isaac Folorunso Adewole will head Nigeria’s mission in Canada, while former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode is posted to Germany.

Also on the list are Lateef Kayode Are to the United States, Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and former Chief of Naval Staff Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas to the Philippines.
The statement noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agrément from the United Kingdom for High Commissioner-designate Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu and from France for Ambassador Ayo Oke.
It added that the ministry has transmitted the nominations of the remaining envoys to their respective host countries and requested agrément in line with diplomatic protocol.
President Tinubu also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately commence an induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners ahead of their deployment.
