NBA: Northern Lawyers dissociate themselves from splinter group

Forty Northern Chairmen of the Nigerian Bar Association have stated their true allegiance by dissociating themselves from the New Nigerian Bar Association or any splitter group making waves as the new body of Lawyers In Nigeria.

This was stated in the communique issued at the end of the stakeholders meeting between the NBA President , Olumide Akpata and the branch Chairmen and leaders of the Northern geopolitical zone of the NBA.

Yakubu Kurah, SAN who read the statement on behalf of the Northern Chairmen said that the NBA has in recent times been fraught with so many challenges, but they are rest assured that under the leadership of Akpata, these challenges would be eradicated.

The NBA President, Akpata said that the body will remain focused as expectations are high and Lawyers would not be in the group of people that would break up the country.

He also said that the Northern zone chairmen have spoken in assurance that the association is not polarized.

They therefore urged all lawyers including those behind the formation of NNBA to come together whilst Putting the rule of law and welfare of the Association at the fore front
