Members of the Oyo State House of Assembly have impeached the Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan.
This follows allegations that he was involved in acts of gross misconduct. Many however say he removal from office is not unconnected with his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP under which he was elected with Governor Seyi Makinde to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The lack of confidence between the two men led to Governor Makinde picking another running mate for his re-election in 2023.
