Breast Cancer Prevention: Expert Harps On Early Detection, Periodic Screening

Women of reproductive age have again been advised to cultivate the habit of periodically undergoing screening for early detection and prevention of breast cancer.

The Head of Human Anatomy Department at the Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano, Mariam Nasir, gave the advice during the 2024 cancer awareness road walk, organized by the Kano Chapter, Nigeria Air Force Officers Wives Association

Breast cancer awareness is a programme observed across the world in the month of October and in Nigeria, the Nigeria Air Force Officers Wives Association, Kano state chapter joined its national body to advance the campaign

Head of Human Anatomy Department at the Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Mariam Nasir, highlighted some avoidable risk factors that predisposes women to breast cancer.

Mariam, who outlines the various forms of cancer treatment options, encouraged women of reproductive age to engage in routine breast check

On his part, the Commander, NAF medical hospital Kano Ismael Jibril, urged officers and men to take advantage of the free medical facility available at the base, to always stay healthy

The awareness programme featured early morning drills, about a five kilometer walk around the NAF base, blood pressure check, counselling and health education sessions.
