Broadcast veterans ask inductees to be responsible in the discharge of their duties

Some veterans in the Nigerian broadcast industry have charged newly inducted members to be responsible in the discharge of their duties, in line with their professional calling as journalists.

The veterans who advised in Lagos Tuesday, during the induction of members, also called on broadcast professionals to be more proactive, in developing sustainable business models, if they must continue to remain in business, in the face of the digital revolution.

In a bid to strengthen the quality of the nation’s media ecosystem, a new professional body under the name of, The Society Of Nigerian Broadcasters, according to some critical stakeholders in the industry, has become very necessary.

On Tuesday, 13th December 2022, over 170 members were inducted into the society, with a charge to put citizens’ interests above self or other concerns.

To survive the terrain with the digital disruption, good content, and investment in human capacity development and technology, were some of the critical recommendations at the forum.

The Society Of Nigerian Broadcasters is open to established and aspiring broadcasters in four categories, including full membership, associate membership, student membership and fellowship.
