President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, to work closely with the Katsina State Government, to provide relief materials and succour to victims of the Central Market inferno with immediate effect.
Buhari said this when a high-powered Federal Government delegation, paid a sympathy visit to the government and people of the state, over the ugly incident, where billions of Naira worth of goods were destroyed.
The Federal Government delegation was led by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
They were in Katsina to sympathize and give hope to the affected traders.
In the course of their visit to the market for an on-the-spot assessment, aimed at getting first-hand information and ascertain the level of destruction, they also engaged the leaders of the market in discussions.

Shortly after their inspection, the delegation paid a similar sympathy visit on Governor Aminu Masari.

They told him about the plans of the Federal Government to work with the state, through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, to provide relief, within a few weeks.
Masari on his part, informed the delegation, of the plans of the state government, to immediately constitute an administrative committee, with the sole aim of finding out the remote causes and proffer urgent recommendations.
While thanking President Buhari for his timely and fatherly concern, by sending the high powered delegation, also promised to cooperate with the Federal Government, to bring succour to the affected traders, as soon as possible.
The delegation comprised of the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami who is the leader of the delegation.
