President Muhammadu Buhari has told the new ambassadors to protect the rights of Nigerians abroad and promote the bilateral ties that exist between Nigeria and their country of posting.
96 new Ambassadors-designate, 8 consuls general, and 5 charge D Affairs from the 36 states were at the induction ceremony in Abuja.
They will be posted to thirty countries across the globe.

President Buhari harped on the need for the ambassadors to prioritise protecting the rights and interests of Nigerians especially as there now many Nigerians in sensitive public and private offices In other countries
He said Nigeria has no room for what he called ‘tea cup’ ambassadors, adding that their activities will be monitored closely by the ministry of foreign affairs
The 5 non-career ambassadors are yet to be screened including former chief of army staff, Lt. Gen.Tukur Buratai (Rtd), former chief of Air Staff, Abubakar Saddique (Rtd) and the former chief of defence staff, Abayomi Olonisakin.
