The President stated this Buhari in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 2022 World Humanitarian Day.
He said from experience in the Civil war, there is a newer threat of the unexploded ordinances on the returnees even after the conflict has ended.
“I urge the ministry and its agencies as well as state governments and the technical committees I have set up under the chairmanship of my Vice President, to come up with specific programmes and projects, that respond to the emerging challenges of the explosive ordinance as well as children orphaned by the insurgency.”
Buhari paid tribute to humanitarian workers from all walks of life and nationalities who are advocating for and delivering life-saving aid to the most vulnerable of the citizens.
Buhari arrived in Maiduguri on a one-day working visit his third in one year.
Part of activities lined up for the President included the unveiling of humanitarian support to vulnerable persons, the commissioning of a Teachers’ Quarters, and 500 resettlement houses in Molai, executed by the State government and a courtesy visit to the Shehu of Borno.
