The Chairman of Northern All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum, Simon Lalong on Monday said President Muhammadu Buhari has not “anointed” any of the aspirants as his choice candidate for the ticket of the party.
Speaking to State House Correspondents at the end of closed door meeting with Buhari, the Governor of Plateau State said the
President requested them (the governors) to have a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to resolve the issues of consensus candidate through democratic means.
Lalong, who was flanked by 12 other APC Northern governors said they had insisted on their position that power should return to the South for the sake of the country’s unity, equity and justice.
The meeting with the National Working Committee of the ruling party is slated for 5pm on Monday.
Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello was conspicuously missing at the last minute meeting with Buhari to iron out issues in APC.
