Worried by the Skyrocketing cost of Building Materials in Nigeria, Industry Experts are emphasizing the need to look into alternative sustainable construction materials and methods, if the country is to achieve affordable housing and National Development.
President of the Nigerian Institute of Building NIOB; Alderton Ewa Ewa who added his voice to this call while addressing Journalists in Abuja maintained that the construction industry is a key driver of economic growth providing shelter, infrastructure and employment in any society.
He added that the contributions of the industry to National Gross Domestic Product GDP will also form thrust of discussions at the institute’s 54th annual general conference.
Other key areas to be addressed at the gathering include the need for regular review of the National building code to reflect advancement in construction technology and the necessity of strict adherence by practitioners to avoid incidences of building collapse.
About 3000 participants are expected at the event including government functionaries and captains of industries.
