The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai has again assured Nigerians that the Army will not rest until it rids the country of all forms of security challenges.

Buratai who stated this during the commencement of the 2020 Army Day Celebration coinciding with the 157th year of the establishment of the Nigerian Army said, the Army has achieved a lot over the years and remains more committed to the defense of the nation’s territorial integrity aimed at bringing to end banditry and insurgency.

This year’s army day celebration with the theme; “Nigeria’s territorial defence and sovereignty: imperatives for Nigerian Army’s sustained training and operations” is holding at the newly established Nigerian Army Super Camp 4 in Faskari, Katsina state with a lineup of activities which commenced with the chief of army staff media briefing.

Buratai notes that the week-long celebration coincides with the current Operation Sahel Sanity with the aim of further enhancing the already existing ongoing operations to ensure the security of the north-west and north-central regions.

He further stated that, they will use the celebration to enhance civil and military relations by instilling professionalism and motivating the men and officers to continue putting their best to win the war against insecurity in the country.

Other activities as part of their corporate social responsibility to mark the 2020 army day include, commissioning of various special intervention projects across the 6 geo-political zones, distribution of palliatives to the vulnerable in the society across the federation to cushion the effect of covid-19 climaxing with the chief of Army staff commendation award parade on Monday 6 July, 2020.
