The candidate of the All Progressives Congress has been declared the winner of Taraba State House of Assembly by-election in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of the State.
The result of the Saturday by-election was announced by INEC in the Local Government Area, with the APC candidate winning with a margin of 374 votes.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Karim 1 State Assembly by-election in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State emerged winner, as declared by INEC following the collation of results from the polling units in the constituency.
The result of the election is a new twist in the politics of the State, as it is known as a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
The APC candidate Abner Shittu won his closest contender Ali Kanda of the PDP with a margin of 374 votes.
The APC candidate polled a total of votes of 5,901, followed closely by the candidate of the PDP who polled 5,527 votes.
The election was held to fill the vacant State legislative seat of Karim 1 constituency, due to the resignation of the former member for an appointment with the State Executive Council.
The election was generally peaceful despite challenges faced in some polling units due to the malfunctioning of BVAs machines.
There was also a good turnout of voters, in majority of the election polling units.
