No Fewer than nine hundred thousand children and pregnant women across the eighteen Local Government Areas of Cross River are to benefit from Inactivated Polio Vaccination, IPV, in the state.
The wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Dr. Linda Ayade made this known during the Flag-off of the 2021 Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health MNCHW week at the densely populated Hausa/Fulani community of Bogobiri in Calabar as part of Eid El Kabir Celebrations.
Dr. Ayade explained that Government invests largely in the IPV exercise due to its immense benefit to pregnant women in a bid to avoid giving birth to deformed children in Cross River State.

On their part, the Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Betta Edu, and the Director-General of Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Janet Ekpenyong explained that the state is working towards achieving a universal health coverage Sustainable Development Goals SDGs target by providing health care delivery to everyone in the state.
2021 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week, MNCHW, across the state, according to the State Government, will help to sensitize the citizens as well as the vaccination of children against the Inactivated Poliomyelitis disease.
