Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State and former Governor Donald Duke have appealed to youths to allow peace to reign in the state and to forgive their leaders, former and present.

The two political leaders made the appeal differently, during interactive sessions with journalists in Calabar.

Ayade said his government will improve on its engagements as a youth-friendly governor, with more interventions and programmes that will touch their lives positively.

Duke on his part advised the governor on quick intervention. He said a programme of action needed should be short, medium and long term.

Widespread violence had started last Friday evening with the looting of government warehouses where COVID-19 palliatives and food items were stored, with wanton destruction of property belonging to government, politically exposed individuals and some private businesses in Calabar.
