Camerounian Plane Crash: AIB Nigeria receives burnt black box

Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, Nigeria has received the burnt black box of Camerounian Laverton aircraft, Havilland d DHC-6-400 twin otter which crashed in Cameroun on May 12th, killing 11 including the daughter of former FCT minister for state.

Receiving the Cameroonian accident investigation team in Abuja, the chief executive officer and managing director of the bureau, Akin Olateru said Nigeria now has advanced technology that can examine burnt black boxes to enhance air crash investigations.

The Cameroonian team said the country had mapped out plans to reach out to its Nigerian counterpart before the fatal air crash and will now work together on the training of Staff and other areas to develop the investigation bureau in tackling further recurrence.

The team pointed out that investigations commenced immediately after the crash three months ago and hopes that the search for answers will be concluded to release a report that will reveal the actual cause of the crash.

This is the first time the Accident Investigation  Bureau, Nigeria, and the Cameroonian accident investigation team would team up on a fact-finding mission regarding an air crash.
