The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, has again called on the Federal Government to give approval for universities’ security to carry guns to ensure adequate security on campuses.
The President of SSANU, Mohammed Haruna, made the call at the end of a National Executive Meeting of the union in Abuja.

The SSANU is also asking the state government to desist from playing politics in the rush to establish fresh universities, while unpaid salaries and poor infrastructure continue to frustrate academic and administrative activities in existing institutions.
The SSANU and Academic Staff Union of Universities have been at the forefront in the fight against the proliferation of state universities.
