The Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), in Taraba State says, the media publications by the state’s Muslim Council, and lately by the Muslim Rights Concern is irresponsible, misleading, and baseless.

The CAN Chairman in Taraba State, Reverend Isaiah Jirapye says, the statements are politically motivated, and a misrepresentation of the true state of the situation in the State.

Addressing Journalists
in Jalingo, CAN officials led by the Chairman, Reverend Isaiah Jirapye said they had to respond to the issues of marginalisation against the Muslim community by the Taraba State as alleged by the Muslim Council, and by the Muslim Rights Concern.

CAN insisted that the Muslim community in Taraba State has enjoyed the same privilege as Christians and that Governor Darius Ishaku has Muslims as close political and non-political associates.

Reverend Jirapye described the statements of MURIC and the Muslim Council as politically motivated and an attempt to underrate the body of Christ in Taraba State.

CAN accused MURIC of turning blind eyes to the marginalisation of Christians in the many northern States in the country and warned against the dangers of such allegations.

In the same light, the Taraba State Council of Imams has distanced itself from the allegations by the state’s Muslim Council, and the Muslim Rights Concern, (MURIC), saying that the Muslim community in Taraba State have enjoyed unwavering support from the Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku.

The Taraba State Imams’ Forum said that the confrontation of the leaders is unislamic, as the Quran has specified ways for aggrieved followers to present their grievances to their leaders.
