Voter apathy was the order of the day as few registered voters turned out to cast ballots for their preferred candidates in the Lagos East Senatorial and Kosofe 2 State Constituency bye-elections in Lagos State, South-West Nigeria.

Meanwhile, one of the candidates for Lagos East Senatorial bye-election, Adetokunbo Abiru could not exercise his civic right as he stayed away from the polling unit following the controversies surrounding his alleged double registration. This may be the first time in Nigeria’s political history that a candidate in such high profile election did not show up to vote for him or herself.
