CAS Orders Medical Outreach to aid Maiduguri Flood Victims

The Nigerian Air Force has commenced a sustained medical outreach to assist residents of Maiduguri affected by the devastating flood crisis.

A statement by the Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain, Kabiru Ali Says The initiative, launched on September 11, 2024 at a primary school near the NAF Base in Maiduguri, follows the directives of the Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, for NAF units in Maiduguri to offer medical assistance and essential relief materials to the affected population

The NAF’s outreach is designed to address the urgent needs of the survivors, by providing essential medical care, food, water, and relief materials.

The beneficiaries of the outreach are receiving free medical consultations, medications, and the distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets.

Additionally, families in need are receiving food and water supplies.

Among the notable cases, a woman who gave birth the previous night is receiving specialized care from the medical team.

The effort is part of a coordinated response involving the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and the North East Development Commission (NEDC)

The statement adds that The NAF’s intervention, which will be sustained for as long as the situation persists, as it is crucial in preventing disease outbreaks and ensuring the health and safety of vulnerable groups, especially women, children, and the elderly.
