Late Catholic Archbishop Emeritus of Calabar, Edra Ukpo

The legendary Catholic Archbishop Emeritus of Calabar, His Grace, Joseph Edra Ukpo is dead . He was aged 85.

Edra Ukpo according to the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade on Religious Matters, Reverend Father Bob Ettah died of brief illness.

Born on the 6th of June 1937 in Okpoma, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, South-South Nigeria, Ukpo was ordained as a priest 58 years ago in Ogoja.

He passed through the Catholic Church priest rubicles and excelled in all his engagements before appointment as Catholic Archbishop of Calabar in December, 2003. He retired from active priesthood in 2013 at the age of 75.

The late intelligent priest will be remembered as a peace maker, who lived for peaceful coexistence amongst the diverse groups in Nigeria and beyond.
