Catholic Priests in Taraba State have called on the warring Tiv and Jukun ethnic groups in the State to sheath their swords as the effect of the protracted crisis has begun taking its toll on the people.
Addressing reporters in Jalingo, the state capital, the clergymen under the auspices of the National Catholic Diocesan Priests Association also called on the government to put in realistic efforts to end the continuous escalation of the conflict.
They are worried that despite several peace meetings, hostilities between both ethnic groups have been going on unabated.
The Catholic Priests said the failure to put an end to the crisis implies that more needs to be done.
They want all security agencies to be engaged by the government in ending the crisis which has lingered for too long, leaving behind devastating effects including the loss of loved ones.
