Kebbi State will soon join some regions in Nigeria to declare cervical cancer-free.
The wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Dr Zainab Shinkafi, said this at the launch of the cervical cancer screening pilot project, held at the Primary Healthcare Centre, Birnin Jari in Jega Local Government Area, of Kebbi State.

Dr Shinkafi said, she would like to debunk the rumours making the rounds that those undergoing screening for cancer were likely to risk the taking away of their womanhood.
She said that with the flag off, Kebbi State has been put on the global map of cervical cancer control programmes.
Dr Shinkafi said the state government and its partners have paid for the programme, as such, the efforts should not be allowed to waste.
She said all women should be encouraged to partake in it.
