The pressure is mounting for the home-based Super Eagles at the 2024 African Nations Championship. Head Coach Eric Chelle admits the team must respond and fast ahead of their crucial second Group D game against Sudan.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Coach Chelle said the squad remains focused on living its dreams, but admitted that communication with the players has been a challenge.
The Super Eagles are currently bottom of Group D, after suffering a narrow 1-0 loss to defending champions Senegal last Tuesday.
That result has left Nigeria with no points, and anything short of victory against Sudan will put their qualification hopes in serious doubt.
“I just want to win this game against Sudan; this is my game project. We are under pressure but we are ambitious and must win tomorrow. This game is the most important for us because a win can bring something good for the team,”
Chelle also emphasized the importance of bouncing back mentally, as the team prepares for its final group game against Congo next Tuesday.
A critical match lies ahead, and the Super Eagles know what’s at stake. Their CHAN 2024 journey could be over — or just beginning — depending on the result against Sudan.
