The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in partnership with the Edo State Government has reunited a seven-year-old girl with her family after she ran away from her guardian’s house in Benin City, the state capita.
Commissioner for Youths and Gender, Andrew Emwanta and the State NSCDC Commandant, Samuel Dan while handing her over to her parents, condemned in its totality the act of child labour.
Despite government’s stringent measures to eliminate all forms of child labour, this trend thrived as some parents not only give out their children to work as domestic helps but also encourage them to be trafficked
The seven-year-girl who is an indigene of Imo State happened to fall victim to such act and was rescued by concerned citizens of Edo State after she ran away from the home of her guardian in Benin City.

Immaculata Akhabuezele is another young girl rescued and rehabilitated by the Human Trafficking I nit of the NSCDC some years ago when she was being maltreated by her guardian.
The Commandant, Samuel Dan who was visibly elated says the young girl has now become a nursing student after being rehabilitated.
He warned parents against trafficking their children for financial gains.
The NSCDC and Edo State Government solicit the cooperation of the public for information that affects the wellbeing of children.
