The Cross River State Ministry of Health has activated its State Public Health Emergency Operation Centre to prevent a potential cholera outbreak even though there is no confirmed case in the state.
State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Henry Ayuk, who made this public during a press briefing, also said surveillance teams across the state’s 18 local government areas have been reinforced and necessary arrangements have been made to handle emergencies.

The commissioner further said the state was drawing on past experiences and was better prepared to tackle potential outbreaks, adding that public sensitization efforts were in full swing with the state government working to enhance rural water supply to further prevent the spread of cholera.
