Federal civil servants in Nigeria are gearing up to begin a new round of agitation for a fresh minimum wage at the start of 2025, even as some States are yet to fully implement the current figure.
The workers under the aegis of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), said the renewed agitation is provoked by the fact that their purchasing power have been negatively affected by inflation, which they blame on the policies on oil subsidy removal and floating of the Naira, among others.
ASCSN President, Shehu Mohammed who gave out the workers plan at a seminar on Wage Management for Workers in Abuja, told the Press that the target by January 2025, is to push for a living wage, not necessarily waiting for the 3-year review circle.
