Environmental disaster in Nigeria

Civil Society groups in Nigeria have unveiled the “Nigeria Socio Ecological Charter”, a document that presents clear roadmap towards achieving ecological wellbeing for the country

The document is firmly grounded in the values of fairness, inclusivity, and sustainability.

The charter was presented to the public in Abuja at the Maiden Edition of the “All Nigeria Socio- Ecological Alternatives Convergence”.

“Is there anyone in this room who nobody has asked cash support from in the last three months?”

To this question posed by Prof Chinedum Nwajiuba, a speaker at the 1st All Nigeria Socio Ecological Alternatives Convergence held in Abuja, no one responded in the affirmative.

This speaks volume of the magnitude of social problems in Nigeria.

The ecological challenges spread across the country are even exercerbated by climate change and biodiversity loss which have over the years posed serious threats to the welfare and survival of the people.
