Civil Society groups in Nigeria have unveiled the “Nigeria Socio Ecological Charter”, a document that presents clear roadmap towards achieving ecological wellbeing for the country
The document is firmly grounded in the values of fairness, inclusivity, and sustainability.
The charter was presented to the public in Abuja at the Maiden Edition of the “All Nigeria Socio- Ecological Alternatives Convergence”.
“Is there anyone in this room who nobody has asked cash support from in the last three months?”
To this question posed by Prof Chinedum Nwajiuba, a speaker at the 1st All Nigeria Socio Ecological Alternatives Convergence held in Abuja, no one responded in the affirmative.
This speaks volume of the magnitude of social problems in Nigeria.
The ecological challenges spread across the country are even exercerbated by climate change and biodiversity loss which have over the years posed serious threats to the welfare and survival of the people.

The Forum organised by the Health of Mother Earth Foundation HOMEF, and her partners brings together Nigerians from all walks of life, who have and are still experiencing all shades of Socio ecological problems in their locality.
Deliberation is on fundamental, and radical actions that everyone must take to mitigate growing consequences of the crises.
High point of the event was the presentation of the Nigeria Socio- Ecological Charter, a document that highlights key ecological challenges across Nigeria and policy pathway for the transformation of the country’s socio-ecological landscape.
