The Board of the National Judicial Institute has approved the appointment of former President of the Industrial Court, Retired Justice Babatunde Adejumo, as the Administrator of the National Judicial Institute (NJI), with effect from August 1, 2025.
Justice Adejumo succeeds Justice Salisu Garba whose tenure will elapse on July 31, 2025, after four years of what has been described as “dedicated and meritorious” service.
A statement said his appointment was made by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun following due consultation with the Board of Governors, in accordance with the provisions of the National Judicial Institute Act.
The statement was signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media, to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tobi Soniyi and made available to the Press in Abuja on Thursday.
According to the statement, the CJN, expressed her profound appreciation to the outgoing Administrator for his tireless commitment and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the Institute and the Nigerian judiciary as a whole.
Justice Babatunde Adejumo who is a seasoned administrator, served as President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria until his retirement in 2019.
The renowned Jurist is a native of Ikaramu-Akoko, Ondo State, and was born on October 1, 1954.
He was called to the Nigerian Bar and subsequently enrolled as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1986.
