The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has warned court registrars and judicial administrators against granting preferential treatment to lawyers and litigants, saying such practices undermine public confidence in the judiciary.
The CJN made this known at the opening of the National Workshop on Ethics for Judicial Administrators organised by the National Judicial Institute in Abuja.
The CJN emphasised that judicial administration is critical to justice delivery, noting that inefficiencies at the registry level, such as delays, poor conduct and lack of transparency often create perceptions of bias against the courts.
In his welcome address, NJI Administrator Babatunde Adejumo described judicial administrators as the backbone of the courts, highlighting their role in ensuring accountability, effective service delivery, and institutional credibility.
The workshop is expected to address key issues including records management, staff discipline, and ethical standards in judicial administration.
