Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has unveiled plans to position the state as a major player in Nigeria’s energy sector, leveraging its abundant natural resources and embracing sustainable fuel alternatives.
Speaking at the inaugural State Energy Conference and Exhibition held in Calabar, Governor Otu emphasized the state’s strategic importance in driving the nation’s energy transition.
Governor Otu’s speech highlighted the state’s commitment to attracting investment in clean energy infrastructure, citing recent legislative reforms aimed at fostering a conducive business environment.
During the 2 day Energy Conference, Eka Williams, the Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, emphasized the necessity of diversifying the state’s revenue sources, highlighting renewable energy as the optimal solution.
The energy conference was attended by both local and international investors, stakeholders, experts in the energy and power sectors as well as consultants, to brainstorm on how best to utilize the vast endowments of the State to boost the economy.
