Climate Change: Nigeria partners UAE to establish Humanitarian Response Stations

The Nigerian government has secured the commitment of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to set up humanitarian response stations across the country to ensure that disaster victims get timely help

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu made this known during a chat with Journalists in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after she met with officials of the Emirati government on the sidelines of the ongoing United Nation Climate Change Conference (COP28).

Edu said that the UAE Red Crescent, which is equivalent to the Red Cross, was now ready to build a more resilient humanitarian response system across the country.

Meanwhile, her counterpart in the ministry of Environment, Balarabe Lawal has assured that the cop28 summit would be good for Nigeria in view of the position already expressed by President Bola Tinubu at the event.

Lawal revealed that Nigeria would present its concerns on various issues bordering on climate change, its effects and remediation.

The minister pointed out that the advanced world have stated their positions on climate change, and are already paying $30 billion in that area, saying those affected have suffered over $100 billion in damages.
