The Coalition of Northern Groups, (CNG) has commended efforts by the Katsina State Government to stem the tide of terrorism and banditary in the state.
It is the first ever commendation from the group to the State government since it began its fight against terrorism 5 years ago.
The National coordinator of the group, Jamilu Charanchi, gave the commendation when his team accompanied by the Chairman Board of Trustees, Dr Nastura Shareef visited the newly established Joint Security Communication Centre, built by the Katsina State Government, towards addressing the lingering insecurity in the State.
Charanchi on behalf of the CNG said he was impressed with the level of commitment and synergy put in place between the government and the combined security personnel at the centre aimed at ending terrorism and other crimes in the State.
According to him, “The CNG has observed that for the first time, where a state government has established a communication centre where representatives of each security agency converged for a common goal to fight banditry.
He said this move will in no small ways assist to end banditry in the State”.

He said the CNG is in Katsina to present its recommendations to Governor Masari, who chairs the Security Committee of the Northern Governors’ Forum as their contribution to fighting terrorism in the North and the country at large.
The National Coordinator of the group disclosed that the visit followed the group’s meeting at the Yankari Games Reserve in Bauchi, where they discussed issues relating to the security situation in the North and Nigeria at large.
Speaking shortly after conducting the CNG team around the communication facility, the Special Adviser to the Katsina State Governor on Security Matters, Ibrahim Katsina, commended the group for finding time to see and conduct a first hand assessment of what the authorities are doing instead of relying on social media.
He charged other groups and organisations in the State and the region to emulate the CNG to achieve success through the community policing initiative it has developed and implemented toward ending terrorism in the state.
