The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has led a high-powered delegation of security chiefs on an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in Jos, Plateau State, as part of efforts to restore calm and ensure lasting peace in the areas.

The Army Chief, who visited the State on Thursday, was received by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, underscoring ongoing collaboration between civil authorities and security agencies in addressing emerging threats.

During the visit, the Chief of Army Staff received a comprehensive operational briefing from the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, Major General Folusho Oyinlola.

The briefing focused on ongoing operations and coordinated strategies aimed at containing security threats, protecting lives and property, and stabilizing affected communities.

Lieutenant General Shaibu also engaged with community leaders and residents, reassuring them of the military’s commitment to safeguarding law-abiding citizens. He urged residents to remain calm, comply with the curfew, and cooperate with security agencies.

The Chairman of Jos North Local Government John Kyoroh described the visit as timely, noting that it would boost public confidence.

The Nigerian Army said it will continue to work closely with other security agencies, the Plateau State Government, and key stakeholders to address security challenges and restore lasting peace across the State.
