The Nigerian Army is assuring Nigerians and the international community that all land-related training, operational, and administrative activities are on course as the Chief of Policy and Plans is effectively running the affairs of the Service pending the return of the Chief of army staff.
A statement by Army spokeperson , Major General Onyema Nwachukwu debunked the claims of leadership vacuum in the army presently, noting that it is mere speculation, as all routine and scheduled activities of the service are on course.
Nwachukwu enjoined the general public to remain confident in the Nigerian Army and be assured that the Service remains on top of the security situations in the country.
While reacting to media reports, General Nwachukwu thanked all well-meaning Nigerians who have shown genuine concern about Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, and have continued to pray for him.

He said there have been many insinuations about personnel postings, promotions and even training activities raised vis-a-vis the official leave of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
General Nwachukwu said the Nigerian Army is a highly structured establishment with well-laid-out procedures and processes for dealing with different circumstances.
The army spokesman added that before proceeding on leave, necessary protocols were put in place for the Chief of Policy and Plans Major General Abdulsalami Ibrahim to act on behalf of the COAS, while he is away.
