The Colleges of Education Academic staff Union, COEASU has fingered their Provosts in all forms of job Racketeering in colleges of education as being investigated by the house of Representatives.
COEASU President, Smart Olugbeko Says it is Confirmed that some Provosts recruit personnel without advertisement and most times claim they receive requests from top government officials to employ their persons.
Olugbeko who was speaking on the sidelines of a three day leadership skills development for effective industrial relations in Abuja, admits that unions in the colleges have been at the forefront against impunity and abuse of office by Management staff in the various institutions.

Reacting to the allegations of job Racketeering in institutions, Executive Secretary, National Commission for colleges of Education, Professor Paulinus Okwelle distances itself and Maintains that due process have always been adhered to by the provosts and management of the various colleges
Declaring the workshop opened, the Education minister Professor Tahir Mamman, represented by Director Colleges of Education department, Uchenna Uba says government has started mainstreaming staff of demonstration secondary schools with minimum qualification standards as well as the payment of 50 percent needs assessment funds to colleges of education.
Meanwhile the Minister of Education has inaugurated an 8-member Committee to develop a road map for the country’s Education Sector.
This inauguration has not come without criticisms, as several road maps have been produced by past governments and dumped in shelves gathering dust.
