Imo State

The people of Abaezi community are yet to recover from the shock occasioned by deadly explosion at an illegal oil refinery site.

The inferno claimed over 100 lives, mostly of youths from the community and their leaders believe that Government’s inability to create employment opportunities is responsible for the increasing rate of oil bunkering.

It was a gory site to behold when ait.live visited the scene of the incident with many yet to hold back tears.

Corpses burnt beyond recognition are still littered all over the place as a day after the tragic incident in Abaezi forest, the bodies are yet to be evacuated.

It was a sober moment for Abaezi, having lost over 100 youths in a day. For them, some youths ventured into the illegal oil refining business because government failed in its duty to the people.

Nigeria loses over 200 thousand barrels per day to oil thieves.
