The need for Farmers across Nigeria to be given adequate Support Services To Raise Agricultural Productivity has been stressed
The director General, International Water Management Institute, Mark Smith made this known at the 6th African Regional Conference On Irrigation And Drainage In Abuja.
The conference is coming on the heels of lack of support and appreciation of Irrigation system in African and indeed Nigeria.
The International Water Management Institute, one of the key partner at this conference is therefore calling for an integrated approach to water management combining technology, policy reform, and inclusive practices to improve irrigation farming.
The President, International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage, Marco Arcieri, said that out of 3.2 million hectares of Farm land in Nigeria, only one third is irrigated.
Experts from across Africa sought to Encourage greater farmer participation in water management, adoption of various irrigation techniques to improve agricultural productivity.
