The Rivers State chapter of the Civil Rights Council has picked holes in the ongoing constitutional review exercise by the country’s federal lawmakers; calling for an outright referendum.
The group said amending the constitution will not address the issues affecting the country.
Briefing journalists in Port Harcourt the President of the group, Ogbonna Arochukwu pointed out that the constitution has been amended for several times without yielding any desired results.
It said tmthe current review by the National Assembly will equally not yield any change in the situation of the country.

In order to get it right, the President of the group noted that the solution to Nigeria’s problem lies in referendum.
In the past three weeks, federal law makers in the Senate embarked on Zonal public hearing on the review of the1999 Constitution in the thirty six states of the federation creating opportunity for the people to contribute to the amendment of the constitution.
